The Balearics adhere to the Manifesto for a Spanish Strategy of Blue Economy

The Balearics have adhered to the Manifesto for a Spanish Strategy of Blue Economy, turning into the second region of Spain in integrating into this initiative of statal reach. In a press release, the Logistic and Maritime Cluster of the Balearics (CMIB) has informed that the 2nd Encounter with the Sea, organized by the entity has hosted this Monday, October 20th, the signature and official adherence of the archipelago to the Manifesto.

The act has counted with the participation of the secretary of Tourism’s State, Rosario Sánchez, of the delegate of the Balearic Government, Alfonso Rodríguez, of the president of the Spanish Maritime Cluster, Javier Garat, alongside other highlighted people of the maritime, portuary and business field.

The Manifesto has established principles for consolidating the blue economy such as strategic points of national economy towards 2030-2050. The cooperation between Autonomic Communities, the General Administration of the State, the business sector and the social agents, with the objective of reinforcing the role of sea as font of prosperity, innovation, employment and sustainability is boosted. According to the CMIB, the Balearics signature has symbolized the unity surrounding the shared project, aligned with Objectives of Sustainable Development (ODS) and the European guidelines for the Mediterranean.

The encounter has ended with the delivery of the Gold Pin of the Logistic and Maritime Balearics Cluster, that is given every four years to people that have contributed in a highlighted way to the strengthening of the Spanish maritime sector. In this edition, the awarded ones have been Ana Landero, Alejandro Aznar and Pablo Peiró.

In addition, the expresident of the Balearic Government, Francesc Antich, has been honored due to his commitment to institutional development of the islands, and the delivery of a recognition plaque has been done to the invited country, Georgia, that has participated as international member of the encounter. According to the information of a press release, the Royal Family has given a recognition and congratulation message.
