Huelva has become the main meeting point for the Spanish nautical industry with the celebration of the 13th Nautical Congress. This is a particularly special edition as it coincides with the 20th anniversary of the National Association of Nautical Companies (ANEN), the organization behind the event and of which the Association of Nautical Companies of the Balearic Islands (AENIB) is a member.

The Balearic nautical industry did not want to miss this important event, which brought together more than 400 professionals, companies, and institutions from the sector, reinforcing the position of the Balearic Islands as one of the main nautical hubs in southern Europe.

During the congress, the Balearic Government reaffirmed its support for the nautical sector with the presence of the Minister for Business, Self-Employed Workers and Energy, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro; the Director General of Industry and Industrial Estates, Alfons Gómez; the Manager of Ports IB, Kiko Villalonga; and the Director General of Ports and Maritime Transport, Antoni Mercant. They met with key industry stakeholders to strengthen dialogue with the sector, gain first-hand insight into its challenges, and explore new opportunities for collaboration to enhance the competitiveness of the Balearic nautical industry.

Over the course of the two-day congress, key topics for the future of the industry were discussed, including attracting and retaining young talent, Spain’s positioning in the international nautical market, the evolution of nautical tourism and leisure, and even a review of the last 20 years of the sector.

In addition to talks, presentations, and round tables, the congress also offered numerous networking opportunities, one of the main goals of this type of professional gathering. During the breaks, coffee sessions, lunch, and the traditional sector cocktail reception, attendees had the opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen professional relationships, and create new opportunities for collaboration between companies, institutions, and professionals from the nautical sector.
