The Balearic nautical market starts the year off strong
The Balearic Islands registers a total of 33 recreational boats enrolled during the month of January

In January, the archipelago experienced a 10% increase in recreational boat registrations, contrasting with a national decline of 18.9%.

In the charter market, the Balearic Islands lead with 27% of registrations, followed by Catalonia with 19%, and the Canary Islands with 17.5%.

Jordi Carrasco, general director of ANEN, highlights, "The Spanish nautical market continues to witness a decline in the sales of small boats compared to 2023, but there is improvement compared to January 2022. Additionally, there's notable stability in the performance of medium-sized boats and those over 16 meters."

Palma, February 8th. The Balearic nautical market has started the year on a positive note, with a total of 33 recreational boats registered in January, marking a 10% increase compared to the same month last year, as per data from the "Recreational Boat Market Report, January 2024," edited by ANEN based on information provided by the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy.

This figure holds particular significance when contrasted with Spain's overall results, where an 18.9% decline was recorded in January 2024, with 214 recreational boats registered compared to 264 in January of the previous year.

With these statistics, the Balearic nautical market has increased its market share within the national context, accounting for 15.4% of registrations, compared to 11.3% registered twelve months earlier. The archipelago emerges as the province with the greatest influence in the national nautical market, followed by Barcelona with 8.4%, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife with 7%.

Across autonomous communities, the Balearic Islands rank second in January of this year, surpassed only by Andalusia, with an 18.8% share. Catalonia closes the podium with 14%. In the charter market, the Balearic Islands lead with 27% of registrations, followed by Catalonia with 19%, and the Canary Islands with 17.5%. However, there is an improvement in registration figures compared to the same month in 2022. Another notable point is the stable performance of medium-sized boats and those over 16 meters.
