AENIB Participates in the CAEB Tourism Commission Representing the Balearic Nautical Sector

From the Association of Nautical Companies of the Balearic Islands (AENIB), which is part of the Confederation of Business Associations of the Balearic Islands (CAEB) — the leading business organization in the islands and one of the main platforms for representation, dialogue, and engagement for the Balearic productive sector — we attended the latest meeting of the CAEB Tourism Commission on behalf of our member companies.

AENIB’s presence within CAEB helps strengthen the voice of the nautical sector in the Balearic Islands’ business discussion forums, especially in areas that have a cross-cutting impact on the activity of our associated companies.

The session included the participation of José Antonio Caldés Capelo, Director General for Social Dialogue and Economic Transition of the Government of the Balearic Islands, and addressed several issues of interest to the tourism and business sectors in the Balearic Islands.

In summary, the following topics were discussed during the commission meeting:

  • Tourism outlook for the season
  • Evolution of the main source markets
  • Current air connectivity situation
  • Management and implementation of projects linked to the Sustainable Tourism Tax
  • Potential aid programmes related to seasonality adjustment, occupational risk prevention, and the hiring of people with disabilities
  • Mobility, housing, and public transport challenges for sector workers
  • The need to promote transformative projects with a long-term vision

From our association, we will continue participating in these CAEB working forums in order to gain first-hand insight into the issues affecting our companies, convey the concerns of the nautical sector, and strengthen dialogue with public administrations and other economic stakeholders.

AENIB’s participation in this type of commission is particularly important in continuing to position boating as a strategic sector within the Balearic economy — capable of generating employment, business activity, innovation, and added value in close connection with the territory, tourism, and the sea.
